DMG1 clear replacement screen protectors

Post by solder » Tue May 10, 2016 7:52 am

Hi

As promised i got screen protectors laser cut.
I will have a few spare ones that i'll post in the trade forum for EU folks.
Unfortunately not that many as calibrating used up some of my acrylic glass ;P
(plz don't request in here or pm, i'll post in the tradesection)

For the rest i'll attach the vector and lasercut files to this post so you can get em cut at some local place.
For the people that use car screens, chiz and other members successfully reused that screen protector which looks quite nice so that's another solution.

The acrylic glass that i used is 1mm precision acrylic glass
http://www.modulor.de/en/precision-acry ... rless.html

In a second attempt i will try to make a batch of protectors that can be inserted & held from the inside of the case for people that didn't leave a tiny ledge for the screenprotector to sit on.
For this i'll take 1.5mm cleartech acrylic glass. I'll try to engrave a border of 0.3mm that is 1-2mm wider then the actual screenhole so that it can be easily embedded from the inside of the case (inside will need precise shaving of the excess plastic)
If it works out i guess that this will be the slickest solution. But won't be done soon, got some priority to-do-lists ;(

Damaged GB just arrived so didn't shave the case yet

They fit really nicely!

If anyone wants coloured screen protectors, kitsch-bent sells them:

I would actually be interested in one of these, but it looks like the ones off kitsch-bent have a boarder around them limiting the viewing of the screen?

I ordered one from Kirch Bent and I am waiting to see what it looks like. They have the DMG clear no adhesive version in the drop down selection. I emailed kirch bent before placing the order and he confirmed that they have no border, are flat on both sides, and no adhesive if I choose. So based on this it should work but I'll update once I receive it.

Yup, I also got an email response from them and they said the same thing. I believe I will order one as well.

I am interested in how I am going to pull this off... I do not have the bezel anymore on my GBZ, but I think with a little bit of super glue on the ends I may be able to get it to fit.

You can superglue a thin piece of plastic on each edge behind the screen bezel, that way each corner has a place to rest. I think this would actually work quite well.
