I cant get an image to display on my screen, I'm using the Gearbest screen and all i can get to display when i connect it to my Pi is 3 different sections one black one white and one has horizontal lines going through it. The screen also pulses lightly while its doing this
any help would be greatly appreciated.
My soldering isn't terrible though I think I might be using too small a gauge of wire for the 5V mod on the board
Im not sure what to do, have i completely ruined my screen/ board, or have I not correctly done the 5V mod to this boardScreen strobes and wont display video

Re: Screen strobes and wont display video
I have same screen, mod on screen board looks like mine.
All I would say is check the ribbon value connector, I thought mine was faulty but first had connected upside down than had not pushed it in far enough?

try making sure that the ribbon cable is in all the way, and that it has no rips or tares in it.
also make sure your solder points are clean, and that you didnt bridge any points by accident with solder

ive re seated the ribbon cable about a hundred times now and all the points have clean solders, I think the board is dead because the screen itself seems to be working, maybe it was DOA or maybe I fried it, i think the best chooice is the cut my losses and buy a new screen.

How are you powering the screen?
The Raspberry Pi's 5V output may not supply enough power to get it to work properly. Try wiring it directly to the powerboost if you're using one
