Well, you only have 1 speaker, so stereo is of no use except for the headphones.

@yves1984 why did you not ground your audio wheel?

so do you just have to hook the wires for sound to the pi zero and plug in the usb DAC? I'm struggling with this one. does the DAC get wired in to the schematics shown in any way or do you just wire it to the usb hub separate from the audio wiring?

No. The usb DAC (audio) gets soldered to the usb hub. The usb hub gets soldered to pi, the white and green cables to the back of the pi zero. The usb hub power gets connected to either your breakout board or the power boost.

So I got the DAC suggested in the wiki, it's just a matter of figuring out where those wires go then on the DAC itself...

EDIT: OOOOOHHHHHHH I'm stupid...

Both the adifruit and usb audio card mentioned on here seem to get fairly poor reviews.

Has anyone come across one which doesn't suffer from interference when plugged into a usb hub and also has a fairly strong headphone jack?

Has anybody managed to overcome the Speaker out/HDMI out switching problem? Not at the audio stage of my build yet, but no audio over HDMI is an absolute deal breaker for me, so will need to plan whether to use the Sabrent DAC that I bought or revert back to PWM audio?
