@RxBrad

Thanks for the updates. I was eyeballing that same screen from Epathdeals on Amazon. Looks like I might chance an order thanks to the info you supplied. Working on compiling my parts and this was helpful.

@KaiKona808 I just put in a second order from the same seller for another GBZ I'm working on for a friend. Since there's differing info on EPATHDEALS boards, I'll update this post with the type of board when it shows up Friday (hoping it's still V7, as this seems to be one of the easier ones to work with).

EDIT: Got my second EPATHDEALS screen. Another BW V7. Although, based on murpho's post below, they still have some big boards in stock. So, I guess you're rolling the dice if you buy from them. I just got lucky.

@RxBrad

Just put my order in as well so once it arrives I will update. Would be good to see if the same V7 arrives.

I am hoping to provide some useful information in return for all the great info the members on this site have provided me so far.

Got the Amazon seller "EPathDeals" LCD this afternoon (Prime shipping is nice). It works with 5V without any modification. I'll update this post with a picture of the board once I crack it open.

EDIT: Looks like V7 of the BW board. It includes the button board, it's just offscreen in this pic.

Accidentally destroyed my Adafruit screen trying to solder the jumper. RIP. Going to order this one since it looks a lot easier to use. Thanks!

I'm reposing this here and deleted my original post.

I just took apart a display from aliexpress that cost me $17.00. It requires only a small modification to get it to run off 5V. The PCB appears to be very similar to the "noname GearBest 3.5 Composite Display" but with adjustments board for contrast, brightness and tint.

Resolution is: 480W x 272H according to leaflet.

Display with the back off, 2 screws. The rest ist just stuck on with some sticky tape.

Please ignore my piss poor soldering job. I need to buy a new iron ASAP!

The resolution is not that great, default console font is not legible.

Here is a display I tried that does NOT work: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shi ... 138.VqTnX2

It is too wide and would require quite a bit of sanding to get it to fit in the case. It also is very slow (refresh rate). There is a trade of between color depth and refresh speed. It is too slow to use for gaming in my opinion. Getting the driver to run is also a pain.

Just adding that the two I ordered from Amazon (seller: Epathdeals) are both v7 working off of 5v out of the box. The board is the same as the one imaged in @RxBrad post.

The screens were ordered at the same time.

Hello guys! Has anybody ordered a 640x480 display that fits in the case? 240p seems to me a bit low resolution. Thanks!

The PD035VX2 is 640x480 and has been used by a few people here, but it's much more expensive, around $80-$100. On page 5 of this topic Cannikin shows off pictures and even a video of it if you need more information about it.
