Anyone know what foot print the original DMG-01 Switch uses? Or what the spacing on the pins are?

The pins are 4mm apart and there is 2.5mm between each row of pins.

This switch shares a similar footprint.

@Camble : wouldn't it make sense to also add a "emergency reset" feature as seen in popcorn's solution in case the OS get's stuck on the pi-zero?

edit: actually I should have asked this in the other thread about "[Gauging Interest] Safe Shutdown PCB"..

cisco.

@tent I considered this, and mentioned it in my PCB thread, but all anyone needs to do to add an emergency reset is to solder a switch to the EN/GND pins of the PowerBoost.

It may be more convenient to have it on the Safe Shutdown board. Hmm, maybe I'll still add a couple of additional pins.

A tact button could be placed just right to the switch so you can make a tiny hole for reset. I've seen this on this forum. You can only push the reset button when the switch is off and you need a niddle to do that. This way it's secured to prevent hard shutdown by mistake

yes true.. but I was thinking about something close to the power switch indeed.. maube a pushbutton un the pcb that could be pressed from above if there is a micro hole on the case just above it? an idea.. maybe in your pcb this could be easy as well if considering the switch position in the case?

How about support for something like this?

I've found surface mount tactile buttons which would fit nicely on the board beside the power switch. Is this a feature the majority would like? A reset button nested in under the slide switch? If I'm doing this, I'll also add pins to locate a reset button anywhere in the case.

What's the general consensus?
  • On-board tactile reset button (slightly longer wait time due to delivery of buttons)
  • Just reset pin headers (quicker)
