Do you need to make the lcd surround inside the gba bigger to fit the 3.2 lcd in?Flavor wrote:I think it's the Same as the PiTFT. Look at the 3.2" Pi LCD that ad adafruit has. There are other brands that are the same design around, too. I think they all work the same, but I used one that has a 40pin ribbon.Helder wrote:Can you link us to the LCD you used? This looks like a nice alternative to the ones in use now and likely be easier to install.

Yes but it's a fairly easy mod.grenade44 wrote:Do you need to make the lcd surround inside the gba bigger to fit the 3.2 lcd in?Flavor wrote:I think it's the Same as the PiTFT. nice !Flavor wrote:In case you care, I listed this on eBay today. http://www.ebay.com/itm/322231541500
you mention the use of four 14500 2500mAh batteries.
Are you certain they are 2500mAh ?!
Re: Game Pie Advance
Hmmm, I hope this wasn't unclear. Let me know if you think the listing should be reworded.day wrote:nice !Flavor wrote:In case you care, I listed this on eBay today. http://www.ebay.com/itm/322231541500

We use 2 14500 batteries. That's what fit in the GBA shell. I recommend 4, so you can swap 'em out on the go.
I'm certain we bought batteries that claim to be 2500mAh. Is that the same as being certain that they are 2500mAh?

Re: Game Pie Advance
yes maybe rephrase that part (even if I think this was clear since I know GBA take 2 batteries, but not everyone does I think).
but my question was more regarding the 2500mAh as I had the impression that 14500 don't exists in >900mAh and even if listed on eBay at 2500mAh, they can simply fake it. The best to evaluate it would be to know how much your GBA consumes and to calculate the battery life and compare it with real life and see if they last as long.

My expertise is mainly in software and logic design. My partner is the electrical engineer, but he's out of town for an extended leave at the moment. When he was in town, though, we did do this math/testing. I think it was about right. Maybe 2500 was a little high, but I remember it being in the ballpark of what he calculated, IIRC.day wrote:yes maybe rephrase that part (even if I think this was clear since I know GBA take 2 batteries, but not everyone does I think).

Re: Game Pie Advance
Nice job!
I agree with day, 14500 battery can barely reach 900mAh, the best I know are Sanyo's UR14500P 840mah 14500.
I use 2 of them on my GBA Zero and I Have nearly 3h playing.

Re: Game Pie Advance
I think I will wait for the kit, I really want to build the GBA myself. When do you think you will offer kits? And will you ship to the UK?Flavor wrote:In case you care, I listed this on eBay today. http://www.ebay.com/itm/322231541500
Re: Game Pie Advance
thanks for your answer Flavor
but anyway, the batteries are not part of the kit, I mean this is not where the attention should be, the kit is really the kick ass job you did and can't wait to see more details on that !
