Mine was only held in with hot glue, which was nice.RxBrad wrote:Just some quick feedback on the BW V7 screen after having finally completed my first build.
Maybe this isn't true for all V7 screens, but my screen didn't have any pesky adhesive or tape holding it in the original housing. This was nice. (I got mine from Amazon/EPathDeals using Prime Shipping in the US)
What did you use for the lower half of your build?

@HoarseHorace It was basically the same as wermy's first YouTube build, except I used one of those common ground PCBs for the buttons. I also used wermy's 3D printed button wells and screw bracket.

Thanks for mentioning this. I was examining for this possibility and hadn't decided if I was going to do this or not. The leads are pretty easy to see with a flashlight so I was going to try for sure.RxBrad wrote: Trimming off about half of the length of the 3 settings buttons and then sanding them smooth helps to fit the button panel in your GBZ's battery compartment. Note that the wire for these buttons is attached to the PCB underneath the potentiometer, so be sure to plug it in before you mount the pot.
Mine had the adhesive in it, but it was basically worthless and came off the pastic housing without any force after opening it. The adhesive they use to hold the pcb to the back of the screen is much much stronger though and I had to be careful to peel the pcb off without bending it too much.Maybe this isn't true for all V7 screens, but my screen didn't have any pesky adhesive or tape holding it in the original housing. Hey guys, i recently stumbled upon this awesome project and thought by myself that I have to try this. So I bought a few stuff already.
But then came the hardest part. The screen
. I saw that a lot of information is already on this site but its a bit overwhelming. So im sorry if its already been brought up.
On dx.com I found this screen.
They say its a 640 screen. But its operating at 12v.
Annybody used this already? Is it usefull? Or better stay back and use something else? Thanks!

I highly doubt it's that resolution but if it let us know as I'd like to pick one up and being 3 inch screen is also appealing to me as well.SP00N- wrote:Hey guys, i recently stumbled upon this awesome project and thought by myself that I have to try this. So I bought a few stuff already.

Has anyone utilised the cable that goes to the buttons on this screen? Am i right in thinking that its the same as the battery extensiom cable type that wermy mentions in his custom build?

It's hard to find something that is good. I don't want to buy stuff that is wrong or not usable or could be better. That screen is unfortunately a widescreen, so it's too wide to fit a DMG case. I found a photo on Twitter showing it to be 8cm wide. It probably also uses all of the GPIO pins, so things like graceful shutdown switches might be a challenge.SP00N- wrote:It's hard to find something that is good. I can't get a BW v7 to work with my pi0. This is the 3rd BW v7 screen but nothing seems to work.
Things tried...
- Hook up the video out 1 (also tried video 2) and hooking 12v to the screen - nothing
- Hook up the video out 1 (also tried video 2) and run 5v/ground straight off the pi0 - nothing
- Run the jumper cable from the power to the second pin like here - nothing
- Remove the chip - nothing
Currently on my 3rd screen...
- Running NOOBS for a testing OS
- +5v is getting to the screen
- pi0 works fine on my TV with HDMI
- Followed this LCD wiring guide here.
- Check the screen first by hooking up my SNES and playing a bit of Super Mario on the small screen.
- Solder points are a little sloppy, but triple checked that nothing is touching.
This is what I currently have...
