[Gauging Interest] Stripped Down RPI 3 for USA
Hello All,
I'm not from around here, but I am in a lot of other places. With AIO options coming onto the scene I've gotten more interested in doing one of these myself with an RPI3. Ive been working on a few other pi3 projects that require me to strip these guys down and Ive got the flow of things now.
The only board I have to show proof is the first one I worked on, where I wanted to be lazy with the camera connector by lifting one side and then bend it back/forth to break it off. Turns out the pins spread across the entire bottom! Who knew! Didn't make the same mistake with the display connector, or since.
The project that I was doing also needed to still have hdmi so in the picture there is a ribbon cable connector in place.
With all that said, is there interest here for this kind of work? I see one user from the UK offering such a service, but I dont see anyone in america doing the same.
Please let me know! And let me know what you would be willing to pay.
I heard there are some cooling concerns too when doing more intensive work too. Kite tells me that he is able to get some 3mm thick blower fans, but would only buy them if theres enough interest.

I'm in the UK so won't answer your poll but I really like your FPC socket on the hdmi port. Nice hack!
Have you got a part number ref for that?

Thanks, just an idea i had. Leads to a breakout board.abrugsch wrote:I'm in the UK so won't answer your poll but I really like your FPC socket on the hdmi port. Nice hack!

I dont have any part number as I grabbed it off some spare parts, but I know its a .5mm pitch 20 pin. Hdmi has 19 pins so you just leave one of the pins disconnected.

Sorry man but that's not clear.
Is the price is just for stripped down process ? Cause I bough my PI 3 28€, so ....if you provide a stripped PI 3 for 20$, I'll take it

It's very clear. The cost is for the service of stripping down the Pi 3.tomsupergreen wrote:Sorry man but that's not clear.

Step 1: buy a Pi 3
Step 2: PayPal $ to GoodTofuFriday
Step 3: ship the Pi 3 to GoodTofuFriday
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Profit!

No it wasn't explict. It was implied.
He mentioned the UK user offering the same service (I forget who right now but it's a fairly recent active thread so should be easy to find!) and no-one is going to offer a service to provide the work to strip down a pi for less than the price of a pi, pi included. After all the poll is asking how much you'd be willing to pay for the strip down service. And there's no fine detail yet as it's a "guaging interest" post, but Dukana was able to provide the list because that's the most obvious way for it to work

Thanks for your guys interest. I think there is enough interest to at least do a few. Maybe at least build a reputation for myself on this forum in the process too.
I'll start an official selling post soon.
