So filler primer and sanding it is then ;)
(are you in the UK? that's what it's called in Halfords. if not then it may be something else where you are)

I'm actually also quite partial to the FDM look. I don't know why... but the irrational opposition to such a cheap way of prototyping stuff is astonishing. I can't believe the amount of people ragging on low volume things on kickstarter and the like just for having a FDM printed case.
I do plan on releasing stl's once I finish both halves. Just want it to be complete. :D
awesome

No, here in the good old USA. Same term here too. ;)

+1 on that. It's a tinkerers dream for prototyping.

I am not making this case for commercial reasons. It's just a fun project to work on my CAD skills. Also I think it's a little more than drilling two holes in the case but I get your point. I have seen some real butchered up cases, especially the screen surround, sheeesh! 8-)
Is that really so inexpensive?? Probably i'll rephrase my post.... But, soooo, how can anybody sell 3d printed small parts (example: button wells) for over that price? ... can't understand that tho..

Yes, i understand what you mean with the dremel screen thing... they can get really ugly.. and yeah, its not only drilling two holes, there's other bunch of things to cut, dremel and sand...
If i only had a 3d printer -.-

One Kg of good quality filament cost about $20. It goes a long way. There is however the time and effort it takes to print and have it shipped. Some parts can take hours to print, longer depending on size and complexity. This case front half wasn't too bad and took a little more than an hour to print at medium quality. Finer quality would take longer obviously. Button wells and such are small and quick but again you have to pay for the convenience to have it done for you and shipped to you. Fortunately, most 3D makers on this site are generous enough to share their STL's so you can print them yourself, if you have a printer. :D

Looks cool, I'm building right now and was not particularly happy about the wasted space inside the dmg so I was thinking about modeling a landscape oriented console (a la GBA). I'll definitely give this a print when you are done.

Ah yes, +1... I'd still like to print one out, even if it's not "final".

I have one printed, but im not satisfied with the durability of it... the screw posts break easily.

Sadly I put this on the back burner. I've had other projects taking up my time. The front half is almost 100% complete. Not so much for the back half. If you still want it, I can post the stl.

This looks nice. Are the post stripping or totally breaking off? If it's stripping then maybe using brass inserts will help. Is that photo your print? Can you show photos of the inside and the problem?
