Hi everyone,

I recently got a screen from gearbeast that I haven't seen yet for a wire up to.

Image

I have also found the pinout for the chip on the right hand side which is here:

That I got from here:

http://www.macronix.com/Lists/Datasheet ... 20v1.6.pdf

I am thinking from the looks of things (by comparing to other boards that were shown in this thread) that it would be pin 2 that I am suppose to connect? But I am not sure where it is suppose to lead to.

Thanks for the help!

Just got this board the other day and 5V out of the box was a no-go. So, I removed the chip in the corner and changed the 5V entry to the second pin from the lower right of the desoldered chip. Not the easiest to explain so I made an image in Photoshop. Hope it helps, I can confirm this works. This screen is one of the nicer looking screens I have seen. ENJOY!

I posted an image for this screen a few pages back, It is the chip on the left you have to solder 5v to:

Soldered the 5V to the pin I marked in red:

Ah okay it wasn't labeled on my board so I looked for the one that was and tried to get more info on it.

Thanks Mischief!

Will this Change anything? It's in a different spot on my board than yours.

So i had the first (wiki-style) gearbest screen, burned the board, ordered a second one, which is the "new" generation gearbest screen obviously. I used the same soldering as you, works fine.
However, did someone manage to add buttons to this board to regulate brightness?
Or is there maybe some other way to decrease it (permanently), because i think the screen is way to bright...

The old controller board had like 4 pins for a button board (some people even suggested it might be a usb port), so i imagined put each pin to ground -> trigger button. But the new controller board only has 2 pins (+ground) and connecting them with ground didn't do anything.

No, it shouldn't matter. The image I used was a photo I took from another Sudomod member so I could help them. My actual board I have lacks the capacitor that I've seen soldered to these driver boards. A capacitor is nothing more than an electrical component meant to store an electrical charge. Kind of like a battery, but not. Ignore the capacitor and as long as the board is identical otherwise, this mod should work.

The part I'm having you remove is a switching voltage regulator. It sees 12V, which is what would be assumed to be connected to given these are for vehicles, and converts it to 5V.

These boards are already running off 5V, we're just moving the 5V power wire to where the regulator would otherwise be outputting 5V from the stepped down 12V.

The 12-5V regulator becomes useless in this scenario and is thus removed.

Hope this explains it a bit better for you.

Can you do this modification without de-soldering the voltage regulator as in other mods?

Hi everyone !

I want to make my own Game Boy Zero ( like you i think :D ) but i'm a little noob in electronic...

So i received this screen : https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00M3O ... UTF8&psc=1

But now i don't know how to transform the 12V DC into 5V.

The PCB : Image

The 2 voltage regulators are : XL1509 -5.0E1 53094(U2 - top right) / 25X20CL 1516(U6 - bottom left)

Someone can help me ?

Thanks a lot :D
