Whatever you guy's ( Wermy & Helder ) decide to do, I know this community will back you up 100%. It is definitely shady what this guy was trying to do, the only good thing about it is that he did not get away with it, so Wermy and Helder keep doing what you are doing because like I said before we have your backs.

Wow - that is bizarre but not entirely surprising. Part of the reason we can do these projects in the first place is the availability of insanely cheap components produced in China (many of which are shameless clones of boards designed by others) so I suppose it's inevitable someone would see a project like this and attempt the same thing.

I totally support your decision to have a limit (if for no other reason than to make sure everyone here can build one who wants to) although it would be really nice if you could make the STL's available (even privately / for a fee) for those of us with 3d printers so we can customize the color scheme.

Limit is probably okay, as well as not releaseing the schematics for 3D prints.

I would kill for a MintyPi2 personal use. That being said

I also had the idea of making some posts on local sites for my town about them and trying to sell some of them for.. small profit (Seriously just figuring how long it takes to put them together, cause time is money). Of course providing information on how to get here for troubleshooting and to not just take off your idea entirely.

Not mass quantities. Just some here and there for some side cash to help pay for some stuff I need here and there.

Either way yeah, building a company off your product and idea and whatnot isn't right. Whatever you feel is best

I might be late with a response to this but what a cheeky little c***.

There are people out there trying to make $$ from others hard work. Good thing the manufacturer contacted you.

I personally think 2-3 units (Board+Screen+Ribbon) is totally fine. Everybody here is a retro fan building stuff on their own (or with help of awesome PCBs ;) ) for themselves or very good friends. For me personally I am doing a GBZ and 2 Minity pi's for education, fun and of course I am loving retro games. And if you get all this in a mint tin.... it’s awesome and I guess I speak for all the users here that you guys are awesome!

I plan on doing two, one for myself and one for my dad as he and me loved playing the first Mario all day and he want one.

But, however you two decide on selling these or how many per batch is totally up to you!

Problem I see is for the STLs. If you share them (Thingiverse for example) you make them public. If you give people links to download them, they might share them. So I am not really sure how to do that but I can imagine that if you print them all to sell them you get a lot of requests. I personally own a 3D printer and would of course love to print them myself in the color I want and save time/money. But I would also order them from you. I can wait for awesome stuff! :)

Thanks for your work, effort and time!

(hope my English is not too bad  )

As i buy almost evry thing here on Sudo. Like Helders board V2.1, 2.2 and 2.2A. Camble`s save shutdown. Bangood and Powerboost. Ext Ext ext. I am also buying one or two of them. So when some is saying can you sent me 1000 units. Ill scratch behind my head and think this is shady. Don't get me wrong. You can make a sh.. ton of money. And to be honest . You and Helder need to decide for yourself. It's not up to the community. It's up to the makers it self. In the end you need to feed your family and not us.

Why i am saying this. If you are a part of this community you are buying it from here. And dont buy it for a sh.. ton of money that a company is asking for it. My vote you have i am still buying here. Cheap and a great community.

The problem is not someone wanting to buy 1000, that's a lot but this guy was bypassing myself and going straight to the fabricator so I wouldn't have seen a penny of it.

Hey,

Well you have to deiced if you want to do this for a profit or just for fun. If you want to make a profit, then you should not release the files for 3d printed parts or information on how you create or program the PCB boards. People will see your ideas and run with them. This will insure you make the maxim profit because you will be the only supplier. I do think you should continue with the "how to videos" and "parts list" when it comes to building the custom products you create.

If your doing this for fun then release everything.
