Re: Charger and Tactile Buttons

I bought these tactile buttons (only needed for L and R, the start and select buttons are pre soldered on the button PCB):

As for the power boost vs micro lipo, I believe they will both be able to charge and play at the same time. The power boost will just boost the battery voltage to 5V, where the basic micro lip does not. Someone correct me if I am wrong. In any case, I have a powerboost 500C, and a micro lipo so my two minty pi's will have different chargers. From what wermy as said you will get slightly better batter life with the micro lipo compared to the powerboost 500C

From my experience and Wermy's as well the 500C doesn't charge and play and neither does the lipo charger. A simple mod with 2 diodes and wire can remedy this though.

I bet you're wondering how do you wire this!? Simple solder a diode from the IN+ on the lipo charger to the Power input on the controller pcb and do the same with the wire coming from the battery to the Power Input. This prevents the battery from getting 5V and the battery draining itself by powering the lipo charger.

Thanks for the link, I'll add that to my cart now. I heard that as well from Wermy's video about micro lipo gets better battery too.

What so special about getting the voltage up to 5V? Does it help power the board for better performance from more intense SNES games? (I still super new to this world, if you can't tell)

Thanks for the information! Any suggestion on which one to get?

Okay, first off, I'm either right in this assumption, or horribly wrong. I'm new to SudoMod and RetroPie. Sorry if this is nonfactual.

So with the Mintypi, I'm wondering how you'll be able to connect to WiFi without any way to connect a keyboard. As far as I know, there are no USB ports on the Pi Zero, so you couldn't connect a keyboard that way, and it doesn't support Bluetooth, so you couldn't connect a keyboard that way. To enter a password to a WiFi connection, you need a keyboard, right? (or really to manipulate most settings) Without a WiFi connection, you can't use the remote access to upload ROMs to the Pi. Does it have a USB port modded in like the GB Zero?

Does someone have an explanation or solution to this?

hey mate see if this post helps you. I researched it and it it did work for me.

Raspberry Pi Zero W has both a USB port and Bluetooth. To use the USB port you'll need a USB OTG adapter.

The Pi Zero does have one USB port, though it's not exposed on the Minty Pi.

The Pi Zero W, as mentioned, has both WiFi and Bluetooth chips.

My guess is, you'll set up the WiFi and bluetooth connections before the Pi is installed in the case, when you can simply plug a keyboard into the USB port. Then it will be saved to the MicroSD when the Pi gets installed into the tin.

Once completed, IIRC, Wermy has said there will be hotkeys for turning wifi and bluetooth on and off, to minimize battery drain.

Ideally you'll get all your games and stuff on there you close it up in the tin, but yes the Zero W has wifi and bluetooth, so you can (and should) connect to your wifi and a bluetooth keyboard as part of the setup (though you can navigate the menus using the gamepad to connect to a bluetooth keyboard after it's closed up).
And yes as mentioned, there will be a menu option to enable/disable wifi/bt. :)

You will probably need the keyboard to run the super screen installer script that @wermy has been working on.

I did read somewhere that you can put your wireless settings in a config file on the boot partition, but I'm not sure where I read it
Get a small cheep LCD in your project https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2312
Wrap it all round a battery https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2292
Or use a custom PCB to make it really small https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2512
or make it really really really really tiny!! https://www.sudomod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2919

Yeah, I need to look into that more. For now I just have the script auto-opening raspi-config for you so you can get on wifi.
