I'm having slightly different issues. I've got both boards (mine and my wifes) soldered up to their pi's and continuity checked (all good), and it boots to the MintyPi splash screen then cuts out to white screen. Any ideas? Thanks!

Is the screen loose in the connector by any chance? Maybe doing a fresh install of retropie then using the install scripts will fix it.

I don't think they are loose, ive got the double tape action going and one of them even got past the emulation station screen before cutting out. I will try a fresh install and see if that helps and I'll let you know. Thanks!

one screen works now after better alignment , but I think the ribbon connector for the screen is not making proper contact. I hooked up the one working screen (attached to the PCB) to both units and they both worked fine. I held the questionable screen ribbon to the pins on the back side of the connector and can get it to work. No amount of fidgeting seems to get it to work inside the connector itself. I will try again tomorrow and let you know if I can get it going. :/

I noticed my display connector appears to be broken, and bent even. I have tried to trim my cable and went as far as 4 layers of masking tape on the ribbon and it will not lock into place, if I lay my finger behind the ribbon I can get the screen to light up but it just stays white. I have tested to see if it will boot with my HDMI port and it boots fine. I have rechecked my continuity and all is well with that. I have attached the best pictures I could take. The side that is bent will not lock into place with or without a cable and Is actually separated from the connector.

I had similar difficulty getting this to work. It was also getting late and frustration was growing....Rechecking continuity, ribbon cables etc to no avail. A combination of a freshly imaged SD card, realigning all ribbon cables and further checking the soldering fixed this for me.

I think there is an 'ideal' position for the cable behind the screen. I had mine locked in securely and still no joy, yet a bit of realignment worked. Depending on how we all trim the ribbon cable determines how much play there is left and right and this how much room for error there seems to be lining up those pins.

2 layers of tape is the max not 4 as I can see the connector lock mechanism bulging out of the socket and it's likely going to break. Where is it bent? The ribbon looks fine to me and as I mentioned in another thread the last 4 pins are not used at all so if those are bent or broken they don't matter so long as the others are fine.

Looks like I broke off the first pin on the ribbon :/ a piece of tape came off in the connector and when i stuck the ribbon in, it bent up and broke off inside... I've cleaned out the connector with some tweezers but now cant get a connection from the first pin inside the socket. How/when do you think I can I buy another screen? Thanks

Pin 1 is ground, you can try scraping the yellow area on the whole ribbon and solder a wire to the back of the pin or just send me a PM and we can arrange something.
