My build was prety much according to the guide, except I used a cheap charge/protect board from eBay instead of the microLipo and I also "convinced" the 3D printed part that holds the speaker with a file so I could use a DS Lite speaker. Thanks to Helder and wermy for the excellent parts and guide.

My build wasn't the cleanest, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Here's a short video of my first test game after the build was "done"

I totally removed the speaker rib and then took a little bit out of the button surround on each side and it seemed to fit pretty well. Eyeballing it has the DS Lite speaker about the same thickness as the plastic that keeps the buttons in place. That said, I learned with this build that fractions of a millimeter can make a big difference.

quite! so far I have issues with the start/select buttons being pressed if that side is screwed too tight. I may have to file some material off the buttons or the switch tops...

Mine is definitely squashed in there. I tried to be careful with cable management, but even still, it is really cramped. I noticed that the "top" to the "bottom" isn't totally flat when I screw it down, but it's not awful. For now I'm going to leave it.

I am so glad I didn't go through the first round of MintyPis. Looks complicated and delicate. But good work so far!

well I'm not exactly sure my start/select buttons are short enough. mine didn't come pre-attached as I got one of helders prototypes, but I'm a big boy, I can handle seat-of-my-pants modding

Not gonna lie, at times this project felt like cheating. The whole thing was figured out ahead of time by wermy and Helder.

YES!
but it has the advantage that it won't take 2 years for me to finish! even taking the prototype board without the LCD + PCB part (I have some of @moosepr's minimal LCD adapters winging their way from OSHPark as we speak... just to bring the dificulty level back up a notch )
