Playable games
Playable games
I'm trying to find out what games are playable for the GBZ.
Don't see any thing on the forms for this topic. Any info is much appreciated

Re: Playable games
Well, i tested GB, GBA, GBC, NES and SNES. They all ran well.
But i guess PSX games will be a pain for the lack of graphical power and ram.
There are just too many roms to list every single one, so i can only tell you which emulators worked for me.

On the zero...not very well. I mean they'll run perfectly fine but it's far from a workable frame rate. Doesn't have strong enough internals. With a pi 3 though i'm sure it's flawless gameplay.Mrplasma wrote:What about n64 games how well do they work?

Even on a Pi 3 it's not great compared to a desktop. N64 emulation just isn't great on a Pi right now. :\Ganreizu wrote:On the zero...not very well. But yeah pretty much any system up to N64/PSX should be fine. Even some PSX games work great, and a few N64 ones like Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64 work well.

Re: Playable games
According to this it seems more than enough for me to be honest. o.o Pretty much all of those games aren't even on the "ultra compatible" list in that other thread we talked about (mario kart, ocarina, mario 64, star fox) and yet they all seem to run more than comfortably.wermy wrote:Even on a Pi 3 it's not great compared to a desktop. Regardless i hope they iterate on the pi 3 soon and get to fixing the heating issues. A jump in power would be nice too but that would probably contradict the heating fix lol.

wow that's waaaay better than the videos I saw a while back -- wonder if a new build fixed some stuff, or they tweaked some settings or something. Regardless, that's encouraging.Ganreizu wrote:According to this it seems more than enough for me to be honest. o.o Pretty much all of those games aren't even on the "ultra compatible" list in that other thread we talked about (mario kart, ocarina, mario 64, star fox) and yet they all seem to run more than comfortably.wermy wrote:Even on a Pi 3 it's not great compared to a desktop. DK 64 needed the expansion pack to run on the actual N64 so i really wouldn't hold my breath on that one. DK racing...also wouldn't hold my breath; it's quite a bit more intense than mario kart 64 since there's more to do but you can give it a shot since mario kart supposedly runs decent.Mrplasma wrote:Ok so mario 64 and mario kart 64 work but what about DK 64 or Diddy Kong racing?
On something as barebones as a zero i just wouldn't bother with N64 in general to be honest. :[ You obviously can still go for it and you lose nothing except a small amount of storage space by putting the roms on your sd card. N64 roms should all execute fine but the experience in general will be very frustrating and far from "playable".
