Here are a couple of screens I have tried so far:

1. KeDei 3.5" touch screen

Avoid!! This screen has a terrible refresh rate and is unsuitable for any gaming. The image took a day to download from their website.
It is a cheap screen for a reason!

2. 2.8" Touch screen (ebay $14.50/£10/€12.80...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291335549448)
This one is similar to the adafruit one:

So I tried it with a cupcade image and it booted right up, in 10 minutes after receiving the parcel I was playing!!

It's good, I will be keeping this for now and maybe connecting a zero up to it. It is a smaller screen with potential.

Any suggestion for a screen to fit without trimming the bezel? I would like to keep the gameboy as original-looking as possible, with the same screen size as the original. Something like this guy does: http://blog.petrockblock.com/forums/top ... mage-jpeg/

That would be a 2,5" display, if i measured right.
They are pretty expensive, at least on what i found by looking for 2 minutes.

acceptable, though I really need to check it some more with something. I will do this when I have more time.
The KeDei one was dreadful, the lag was noticeable even when booting up, you could see the refresh going down the screen.

EDIT:
here is a couple of very short clips of the 2.8 in action:

Managed to bring my voltmeter to life for just a couple of minutes (some 10 bucks crap which was 10 years old).

Anyhow. This screen

To get 5V you just connect the 5V wire to:

Mind that it does get pretty hot this screen around the coils.

A little late on this but the screen I got from amazon.com seller Niceshopping was exactly the same as the BW "Ver 1" screen from amazon.de on the wiki, same pcb and required same mod to get it working with 5v

I've got one and it's easy to make it 5V.

Hey guys,

I finally got a screen form Amazon that works (seller was Amazon warehouse). I was able to get it to work on a 12 volt supply but it looks like it needs modification for 5v. The board looks familiar but I wasn't able to find the exact one on the forum/wiki. Would anyone be able to have a look and let me know their thoughts?

Thanks!

Edit: It looks like solder has the same board as me and it works out of the box at 5v. Perhaps my power supply is weaker than the 5v it says it is. I will test right on the pi vs. the breakout board I have this week and see.

Edit 2: I had a bad wire and now it works perfectly. It performs at both 3v and 5v power, has buttons to change contrast and the pcb is tiny. This screen is about as good as it gets if you can get your hands on it. I would be willing to post more info about it if anyone thinks it would be beneficial. I know solder has some details on his post in this thread.
