Good info! Unfortunately he seems quite slow to update and the footage is mostly him just figuring out how things work. This project does seem much more complicated after quickly running through his two videos though.

Interesting project.

Would you still use the same battery that fits in the Gamepad? It uses a 2550mAh, 3.6v pack. Should be fine with a Powerboost. Source

In the video he holds up both the 7" and 5" display options, I wonder if any of these displays would be of use, since the Wii U Gamepad uses a 6.2" display.

I really want to go for a 10000 mAh because the default gamepad battery is quite bad. I don't know what kind of draw the wireless wii u communication/nfc module/all the other components have, but i feel like a pi 3 would either match or exceed that draw. A 10k battery would give us a looot of time to play/watch a movie or something.

I think we'd have to go with 6.2 inches since the 7 inch and 5 inch clearly won't work if we want to keep it as stock as possible while having a good display. Those cheaper displays look pretty good.

I would be quite surprised if you could fit a full sized Pi 1/2/3 in there without heavily modifying the case to remove that inconveniently placed battery holder. Hopefully it doesn't have to be hacked up too much though, it does seem like the perfect case for a portable gaming system. :D

Yeah it seems most his projects are slow going but it does show what space there is to work with and what may be needed :)

Now what would be even cooler, is if you could use a 6.2" TFT LCD Display and make use of the Gamepad's Stylus

My Wii U gamepad got here yesterday. Man, this thing is *perfect* for a project like this. Going to be hard to make myself wait until the GBZ guides and everything are done! :)

Sadly this prospect probably means i'll be traveling with my gamepad over my gameboy zero (since it plays N64 and is better for movies). :[ But man i can't wait to put "i have made custom video game consoles" on my resume.

Then just stop working and sleeping and you should have plenty of time to get started. :D

Sleep is highly overrated.
