In other words: will the little metal piece to plug the SD in be on it or do I still need to solder?
Same question :(

the 'pcb only' option comes with only the pcb. nothing else. in case users don't want a socket, or already have this part in their parts bin, or whatever else...

the 'pcb/socket' option comes with the pcb, and socket, but not assembled.

further down the drop-down menu there is an assembled version, although you need to cut out the notch on the side (for 'kk_gb_zero_b), as I have misplaced my dremel because i'm currently moving. i can't find it anywhere, and tried making a cutout with some other tools that didn't do a good job.

so, it basically works itself from the most bare-bones up to the complete version (albeit, with 'kk_gb_zero_b', the notch needs to eb made i the case). the most complete version being assembled up to that point.

but, 'pcb only' is only the pcb. nothing else at all.
its full of Game Boy Zero stuff!!! -----> -----> -----> http://store.kitsch-bent.com

the fully assembled include the plastic shell as well. with the high quality choices opted for on the PCB itself (didn't skimp on the plating or anything), it seems fair to me. but, to each their own ;)

Personally the time saved is more than worth the relatively inexpensive cost given the high quality of the product. I know that these cartridges can have issues with the pins wearing down if they are made cheaply so i trust that these will last their lifetime.

This may seem like a silly question, but I ordered the PCB and card slot unassembled thinking it'd be pretty easy to assemble myself. Am I correct in thinking all I need to solder are the 4 corners of the card adapter onto the PCB itself or do each of the 8 pins in the card slot need to be soldered as well, and if so, how the heck do I do that? I've never put anything together like this before so I'm completely clueless here. Thanks!

You need to solder both, best way to do so is solder one of the 4 corners and make sure the 8 pins line up with the pads then solder the opposite corner. The corners are ground points and also serve as a secure way of holding the card reader to the PCB, be sure to solder all 4 corners and most importantly the 8 pins.

You are supposed to solder through the two small cutout holes in the metal shielding. That was impossible for me however, but I noticed you could take the metal shelding off entirely, this makes it much easier to solder the 8 pins. When I got the shielding off, I held it in place with some hot glue temporary, soldered, removed hot glue, put the shielding back on then soldered the corners.
