The more I think about this, I bet just making some sort of box that just uses bluetooth for controls entirely and has a screen would be pretty sweet
How coincidental, I have been planning a build like this for months. I have a spare 17-inch LCD laying around, and I plan on connecting a controller board, Pi3, and a battery to it, and then putting it inside of a cereal box with a cutout for the screen :D . I would set it up in my kitchen and use Bluetooth controllers to play it!

oo oo new idea what about a nice one handed keyboard? idk how portable you could make it but i feel like ergonomics would be everything in this situation.

Kichinokimi, that’s another good idea. As you say ergonomics are more important that always portability. I had looked at getting a bunch of Cherry mechanical keys and building a HID so I can position the buttons exactly.
