best glue option for the LCD bracket
best glue option for the LCD bracket
Under waiting for Kite's amazing mainboard, thinking about the glue option. Every LCD bracket needs to be gluing to the housing. What is the best result? Hearing about uv glues, dichloroethane, acetic acid or clear adhesive two-sided tapes...
Suggestions with exactly type of glue (with link maybe)? Good and bad experiences? Any info will great starting point!

Re: best glue option for the LCD bracket
I have a tube of Household Goop that I use. It's a bit thick & unwieldy to dispense, so I usually spread it with a toothpick on the pieces I want to adhere..

EDIT: I believe that E-6000 is basically the same stuff, and somewhat easier to work with (not as thick & goopy; tube has a smaller dispensing spout; but I don't think it's as strong).

Re: best glue option for the LCD bracket
I personally used J-B ClearWeld. Once it's set, it's not going anywhere. But, you can get yourself into lots of problems if you're not used to working with quick setting epoxy.
Here's some recommendations:
Here's some recommendations:
- Don't even look at the epoxy until you're sure you can align the screen to your liking.
- Use something that can hold the bracket and screen temporarily at first. (I used small plastic clamps from Harbor Freight. I've seen others use dabs of hot glue.)
- If you stuff all guts into the" back side" (including the mainboard), you can prop it up on a box and just have the lcd ribbon cable connected to the "top side". This allows you to fiddle with the screen/bracket alignment easier.
- Epoxy spreads. Make sure it doesn't get somewhere you don't want it to be. (Like screw holes.)
- While the epoxy is soft set, you can cleanup the excess with an x-acto.
Re: best glue option for the LCD bracket
Thank you guys for the hints! Would like to try the LOCTITE 3430 for my bracket!

Looking nice, but the screws...
Anyway I need the 640×480 version with analog joystick.
