Pi Zero and Kite board (lite) sit high in case

Post by RTBoston » Thu Apr 16, 2020 3:55 pm

Been trying to use guides as I find them and have been using Kite's info on github.
That being said, I feel like the long pins being on the side they are after the install is preventing my board from sitting where it should in the case.
I'm hoping I didn't install them incorrectly. Reading the guide:
13. Insert the 40-pin header into the Raspberry Pi Zero long pins first then solder the long pins starting with one pin in each corner

That seems to make things too high. See the pics.

The board sits much higher at the top of the gameboy than the bottom.

Two follow-up comments:
1. Please ignore the solder job. It's ugly but confirmed working. lol
2. Should I just clip all the long pins???

I can't see any pictures. But yes, clip the pins. You do not want them to stick up too much. See a picture of a kite lite I did, this is how the pi sits. And the gpio pins need to be clipped down a bit.

Definitely cut those down before you damage the ribbon cable.
