Analog stick

Hi there,

Wondered if any of you guys building GBZ's is doing this:

Not my video, not my project. Just thought it was cool when he fires up Super Mario 64 and works like a charm. Dunno if the Zero could handle it. He also plays Mario Kart.

Thought about it! My big thing was that yeah, the zero isn't powerful enough to run many games that would benefit from an analog stick. I think Mario 64 runs alright on it, at least.

Placement is another thing, but this guy seems to have found as good a spot as any.

I actually had a PSP analog stick wired up to a Teensy working great when I was trying to decide whether to use it or not, so that's another benefit of having the Teensy for the controls. :)

Yeah, you are right on that, not many games that could use an analog stick work properly on the Zero. Well, next generation maybe, when zero's are fast enough!

yeah i currently am just waiting for the boards but i do have a controller board and a psp thumbstick connected to my leonardo pro micro and i got it all working as a gamepad so the coding is almost finished. As for the board itself my only concerns are its a little to big to fit in the case however i dont think it will be and secondly im unsure if the psp thumbstick will be too high on the board for me to just drill a hole for the stick or equally its to low for the stick to come out the case these are things i can only judge by looking at the actual board when it arrives.

if its too low its not the end of the world you could solder wires connecting to the board and hot glue the thumbstick higher, i cant really do anything about that from the board side since boards need to be flat :) i suppose i could then design a small board you solder the thumbstock too and just add headers for that board on mine if that makes sense.
