2 pin LiPo Battery Connector for Powerboost

Post by mikespadafora » Fri Jun 24, 2016 9:15 am

Hey guys,

Might be a silly question but I'm looking for the male termination that connects to the + & - wires of the battery that fits into the female port for the battery on the Powerboost 1000C. Does anyone know what this termination is called and what size it is? The battery I bought for another project didn't come with the termination :(

Thank you!

I think it´s called JST connector:

BAT - this is the battery input, connected directly to the JST connector. For most Lithium batteries, this will range from 3.0V when near-dead to 4.2V when fully-charged. Higher voltages will let you draw more current and in general, are more efficient. Try to keep the wires going to this pin nice and short - 3" or less is best!

Sorry man totally forgot replying. Anyways, this is the JST connector I got which should fit the PB1000C.

Be mindful of the PB1000C's polarity. I had to switch red and black wires in the connector to match the positive and negative leads in the PB1000C

Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread but a quick question: does any lithium-Ion 3.7v battery work with the powerboost? This one looks pretty close to the one from adafruit https://www.sparkfun.com/products/8483

I'm asking because adafruit's shipping cost is ridiculous high compared to other stores.

As far as I know -- they say as much on their product description. Just make sure the polarity on the JST connector matches. :)

Edit: From their site: "This little DC/DC boost converter module can be powered by any 3.7V LiIon/LiPoly battery, and convert the battery output to 5.2V DC for running your 5V projects..... The charger circuitry is powered from a microUSB jack, and will recharge any 3.7V/4.2V LiIon or LiPoly battery at 1000mA max rate."

Coming in from left field!

What are NiMH batteries (I get that their nickel and rechargeable) and where do they fit in the battery world compared to lipo/liion?

Can the pb1000c touch them?

Those are Nickel Metalhydrite Batteries.
As far as i know, NiMH batteries need a seperate charger.
So i would say No, you can not use the PB Chargers for NiMH batteries.
The PB can only charge LiIon or LiPo.
