[SOLVED]How to connect to WiFi without dissembling

Post by GIJ0 » Sat Apr 06, 2019 8:32 am

Hello sudomod!
I have received a pre built minty pi 3 and its working great except that the wifi credentials were never inputted.

when trying to remove the 4 screws allowing me access to the sd card the top right screw will only spin and keeping me from dissembling it

i have noticed there is a microusb port, usb3.0, as well as bluetooth....

helder mentioned that we can use a Bluetooth keyboard, however im lost on which one to get since there are no usb ports on the minty pi to connect the usb blue tooth part....

can someone point me in the right direction to take/ which Bluetooth keyboards to get?

all i need to do is insert my wifi credentials

The USB-c is for power only. The micro USB can handle a USB keyboard. It can be done that way also.

I am pretty sure I entered them for you and copied/pasted from the PM. But I am sorry they are not working.

You could try a USB to microUSB adaptor and see if that works. If it doesn't work, get with me in a PM and we will work something out at no cost to you.

I have purchased the micro USB adapter, tried plugging in my keyboard and nothing happens, is there something in the configuration /settings that i would have to enable to use the micro usb port for keyboard use?

You just plug it in and the keyboard should light up then the arrows should be able to move in the menu, if not try another USB keyboard.

One thing to check is to see if WiFi is enabled. While testing battery life, I may have turned it off and forgot to turn it back on. If you hold the function button (the star), does it say WiFi is enabled? If it is disabled, keep holding the function button and press and release left on the d-pad. Let go of the function button and press it again to make sure it is enabled since it doesn't do a live update.

You were right! had to try a few different keyboards...weird that roommates and my gaming keyboards didn't work.
Got it to work with a standard dell keyboard!

Thanks everyone and hope this helps others with the same problem!
