How to Update MintyPi v3?

Post by iSpicyCurry » Fri May 01, 2020 11:07 am

As I'm sure many of you are aware, RetroPie has been updated to version 4.6! With the new release, RetroPie is no longer supporting Stretch. From the article:
For RetroPie 4.6 we have moved to Raspbian Buster as a base for our pre-built Raspberry Pi images. Raspbian Stretch is no longer supported by Raspberry Pi Trading Ltd. We will continue to support Stretch for a while longer, but will likely stop updating binaries for it later this year.
Is there a way for us to create our own mintyPi image based on the buster image? Or should we wait for the official release from wermy?

Thanks!

Wait for the official image. If you make your own, your going to have to add the screen driver, map all the buttons, find and add all the scripts for the other things involved... If they don't ship it with the new retropie update, you will be able to update it manually. Only thing you can't update is the kernel.

Plus the New Retropie is not working well with the scripts for controls and other things. New versions always break things and what new features do you really want from the new version to want an update?
