help downloading ROMS

I saw someone else asking the same thing but the response wasn't very helpful. I finished building my minty pi but I can't put any games on it. The articles I've seen say to create a file called retropie, put it in the pi then put games onto that file. I've tried this several times but I haven't gotten it to work. what do I do?

There is a link in my signature that gives a step by step guide on how to transfer ROMs. Ignore the part about enabling and disabling FTP as that is for V3 only.
